The Heritage Highlands Photo Club is for all HH residents who enjoy taking pictures and improving their results by learning new techniques and tips.
We meet twice a month, year round. Membership is free and open to any Heritage Highlands resident.
No, you don’t need an expensive camera to participate. SLR , Point and shoot, digital or film are all appropriate. You’re sure to learn new ways to get the most out of what you have. (we only prohibit those hooded cameras with the flash powder)
You also don’t need to own or use Photoshop, though some of our members do. We can recommend some free or low cost alternatives for what you may want to do.
Meetings are usually held on second Thursday, 10 AM and fourth Thursday 3 PM to accommodate members’ other commitments. Check the weekly posted HH calendar to be sure of the time and meeting room.
We present and critique technique examples as well as members work and often hold mini photo contests based on a special topic or theme; submittals usually need to be color printed and matted 5x7. Member photos and judged winners are usually posted on the hallway display boards.
The club conducts field trips as well; an example is the photo trip to Tohono Chul on April 9. You can get great shots for our informal contests, like these examples: Max Talbot TohonoChul.jpg ShirleyJesioro_TohonoChul.jpg
Upcoming trips: May 14, 2009 : Architectural photoshoot at Tucson Barrio (meet at Club 4pm ); May 21, 2009 : Photojournalism class at Arizona Daily Star office. (at 1pm – Reservation needed. Call 618-1927 )
The open-to-all-residents HH photo contests which have been held annually are now going to be organized and administered by the HH photo club. You don’t have to be a member or have ever attended one of our meetings to participate in these. Just watch the Highlander for the announcement.
