Jeff ZieglerRenovation Construction Update:

"Don't sweat the small stuff!" Unfortunately it's all small stuff when it comes to final inspections. We had a very successful first round inspection with the Pima County Health Department for the restaurant and bar on Wednesday.  A short list of several items will be addressed prior to our final with the health department next Monday.  Subsequently, the City of Marana should complete their final inspections for the restaurant, bar, and ballroom on Tuesday.  Furniture delivery for all three rooms will continue into next week. Once we take final possession of the aforementioned rooms and complete our punch list for each, we will begin to prepare the set up and operation for each room.

Work on the patio was relatively slow during the week due to the ceiling lights needing to be re-ordered.  Accordingly, albeit not as noticeable, requisite electrical and plumbing for the heaters, lighting and misters continues.  Once the heaters and lights are installed, we will begin with the ceiling installation and complete the fascia.  Not to worry, while the patio may not be totally completed for the Labor Day Golf Tournament on September 7, 2008, we will be able to utilize the space for that event.

Although the craft room continues to function as temporary storage for our various deliveries, we were able to install the counters and display case.  If you haven't noticed, the Lobby is having the tile floor installed and the bathrooms will receive new tile shortly thereafter.  As previously mentioned, the restaurant, bar and ballroom will be opening shortly - however, it will not be long before we turn over the Catalina Room for renovation.

Until we are able to reopen our traditional routes to the Golf Shop, please note that the damage to the sod near the patio is under repair and that the patio is still considered under construction. Please be careful when walking behind the patio and try to avoid walking under the canopy as much of the overhead work is not yet completed.

Plant Donations -     Thank you to the many residents who have offered plants for transplanting to the tennis court area and street mediums.  If you also would like to donate desert adaptable plants from your property for planting into these common areas, contact Ed Froeliger at 572-6081.  HOA staff will make arrangements to pick up plant material September 2 - 5.

Water pressure reminder - There have been two more water pressure regulator failures in the community.  As reported earlier in the year, fluctuations in water pressure have been the result of a faulty pressure reducing valve.  If you have a pressure regulator installed at your home is should be inspected periodically.  One further suggestion is to consider turning off the water to you home when gone for extended periods of time.

Summary of recent Board meeting - For those residents that did not attend the August 20 Board of Directors meeting, the following are highlights:

--Dick Poffenberger was approved to serve as Director for the term balance of recently resigned Randy Hash.
--Amended bylaws to support changing from a mail-in ballot to a voting day process was approved and new bylaws to be posted on web.
--The Mahoney Group was selected as our new insurance broker of record following interviews with three other firms.

Golf Course Update

>         We have been experiencing a number of groups holding tee time spots under the name of "guest" in order to protect their group from unwanted players joining them.  In some cases the reasons are gender based and in others they are personality based.  We are experiencing record numbers of rounds this summer and we don't have the flexibility to hold spots for fictitious players.  Please help us, and be considerate to your neighbors by only requesting tee times for players that you know will be playing.

>         Beginning August 29th through September 1st, golfers nationwide will be asked to donate a minimum of $1 to benefit the Folds of Honor Foundation, which provides educational scholarships to families of those who have become disabled or lost their lives in the line of duty.  We will be collecting donations over the Labor Day weekend at the golf shop.  We can only accept cash or checks: we will not be able to accept credit charges or account charges.  Please make your checks payable to:
o       Folds of Honor Foundation
         7030 S. Yale Ave., Suite 600
         Tulsa, OK 74136
 >     The Folds of Honor Foundation is a 501 c-3 charitable non-profit organization.  Learn more at PatriotGolfDay.com.

>        If you have seen the latest golf calendar for September you will notice that we have a very heavy event schedule that includes every Friday and Saturday in the month.  These events have been booked for the last six months so there isn't anything we can do about the heavy load at this point.  It is my fault that we sold so many events; I should have been paying closer attention to our tournament sales program.  I think in the end there will be plenty of tee times available for everyone, but the times might not always be the best, and the pace of play may not be as fast as it could be.  On the days that we have events our staff has been asked not to sell any additional public play in hopes of ensuring a spot for our members.  Please accept my sincere apology for this scheduling oversight.
