Since opening in November 2007, participation at the Fitness Center has rapidly become one of the most popular activities in Heritage Highlands. In 2008 we had over 45,000 documented visits. In 2009 that number jumped to over 48,000 demonstrating its popularity and value to the community.
This state-of-the art facility is unique for an adult community. It's 5,500 square feet of space offers a large room with LifeFitness and Precor equipment for weight resistance and aerobic exercise, a fitness class studio, a free weight room and a stretching room. Our commercial grade equipment can withstand the use it incurs being open 14 hours a day. This unique facility, created out of the former US Homes sales office, is just east of the Clubhouse.
Use of the Fitness Center is open to all members and their guests seven days a week and requires only your registration at the desk upon entry. Your guests over the age of 18 are free to use the Fitness Center, but remember you as a member are responsible for your guests' actions. Teens between the ages of 14-18 may use the Fitness Center only under adult supervision. For safety and liability reasons, children under 14 years are not permitted to use the Fitness Center.
Do not be intimidated about starting an exercise program in the Fitness Center. However, we strongly encourage you to consult your doctor before starting any exercise program. The HOA employs part-time recreation attendants who can introduce you to our equipment and show you how to use it safely and properly. If you are seeking a personalized training program, Heritage Highlands has approved a limited number of certified personal trainers as independent contractors who work on a direct fee basis. Check our information in the Highlander newsletter or in the Fitness Canter for specific certified personal trainer contact information.
A large variety of fitness classes are scheduled throughout the week. Your can keep up with the class schedule by clicking on the Fitness Calendar found below. We have several qualified members who volunteer to teach classes at little or no charge. Our Activities Director augments the class schedule with several popular fee-based classes. |
